William “Braddah Craig” Collins, 58, of Hawi died Oct. 14 at Kohala Hospital. Born in Florida, he was a handyman. No known survivors. Friends will host a celebration of life service at 5 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 1) at Mahukona Beach Park. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Salome Maria Damasco, 93, of Pahoa died Oct. 18 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Santa Iloco Sur, the Philippines, she was a retired certified nurse’s aide in California. Private services to be held. Survived by daughter, Connie (Patrick Silva) Somera of Pahoa; sons, Benjamin Somera of California, Franklin (Gale) Somera of Georgia, Edwin Somera of Arizona and Sanford (Linda) Damasco of Texas; sisters, Carmen Summer of Honolulu and Lorraine Ruse of San Francisco; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Fumiko Yamasaki Lapier, 90, died Oct. 3 in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she retired as a housekeeper for the YMCA in Honolulu. Private services at a later date. Survived by sons, Steven (Janice) Yamasaki of Maui, Keith Yamasaki and Nicholas (Karen) Yamasaki of Honolulu; sisters, Umeno Shim and Masaye Hayes of Redwood City, Calif., Matsue Matsumoto of Hilo, Marilyn Huff of San Diego, Dorothy (Robert Sr.) Cambra and Eunice (Masatsu) Kawamoto of Hawi; brothers, Rodney (Renate) Yamasaki of Honolulu, Albert Yamasaki of Hawi, Wayne (Arleen) Yamasaki of Honolulu; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred Miyeko Miyose, 98, of Kealakekua, formerly of Holualoa, died Sept. 28 at Marissa Gaspar’s Care Home. Born in Holualoa, she was a housekeeper and member of Daifukuji Soto Mission, Bank Kumiai and Kona Kumamoto Kenjin Kai. Visitation at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 1) at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Casual attire. No koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sister-in-law, Kimiyo Miyose of Honolulu; a nephew and a niece. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Masaru Nitta, 102, of Hilo, formerly of Kahului, Maui, died Oct. 6 at home. Born in Paia, Maui, he was a retired machinist for Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Kahului Hongwanji Mission and veteran of the U.S. Army, Anti-tank Company, 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II. Private services held. No flowers; no koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughters, Gail (Dexter) Shimabukuro of Hilo, Faye (Earl) Maruishi of Honolulu; sisters, Yoshino Okazaki of Honolulu, Mildred Tsukuda of Kauai, Mary Wakamatsu of Maui, Ethel Okabe of Waianae, Oahu; brother, Ray (Doris) Nitta of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Gertrude Nitta of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
